Ciella is a S&S 34, made famous by Jessica Watson et al. I bought her in 2008, sailing her locally in Cairns. She went through a full rip-out-and-build-in-new in- and extrerior, over a 2,5 year period. I am now based in Manly, Queensland. Recently I sailed Ciella singlehanded, non-stop from Cairns to Manly, a distance of 1100 nm. I always bought Ciella for bigger things. The 2018 Solo Trans Tasman will be a prologue to the MOD 34 in 2019. A one design, single handed, non-stop, unassisted round-the-world race for S&S 34's.

Started sailing at the age of 12 in the Netherlands, at 14 I knew I wanted to be a boat builder and at 16 had an apprenticeship with one of Holland's leading sailing yacht builders.

After a stint in the army, I spent 12 years as crew on Superyachts worldwide, ending up in Cairns.

Since recently I am based in Manly, Queensland.

My first sailing book, I bought at the age of 16, was Bernard Moitessier's "The long way", and I knew I needed to do something like that.  Love being out on the open ocean, preferably alone.

Apart from sailing, I am into anything that challenges you phiscically and mentally - Ironman, adventure racing etc." Without challenging yourself, life is kinda pointless".
