"Zenith" is a Dickson 45 designed and built by my farther who is also entered racing his newer designed Dickson 55  "Sarau".
He built both of these yachts and it will be a great challenge racing against him, We have both done thousands of short handed ocean miles together, sailing two handed from Tasmania East about around Cape Horn to Ushuaia and later finishing the trip in Perth with my wife and mother.
My Dad and I have also done multiple short handed races together but have never raced against each other which will certainly be a massive challenge.

My own sailing experience includes 3 circumnavigations, 7 years professional racing in Australia and a lifetime in the industry.

I was bought up around boats, raised on the first family yacht, a 29 foot yacht named Spindrift which was the first family yacht my father designed and built.  He also raced this in the 1978 Solo TransTasman race and finished 6th on line of the 15 entries in the smallest boat in the fleet.  My Uncle Alister Dickson has also done the race in 1998 and finished second that year racing neck and neck with a catamaran until he lost his autopilot towards the end.

I have just completed my 500nm Qualifier Sailing from Nelson to the Bay of Island and although not the ideal time of year loved every second of this.  I am now excited to get boat ready for the bigger challenge.

With such a family tie to the race this has always been a goal of mine and just to be a part of this is something very close to me.
